I took the plunge and called the RE this week. We’ve decided we’re going to schedule an IVF in early April and bust our butts in the meantime to raise the funds for it. Whatever we can’t scrimp/save/raise we will charge on the credit card and deal with later.
Now the race is on! I am excited, nervous and a whole lot of things right now. I am glad to have a date, as I hate being in limbo and just not knowing what is going to happen next. I prefer to have a plan than to sit around twiddling my thumbs. We will either be pregnant or done trying to get pregnant by the end of April. It’s exciting (possibly being pregnant) and scary (possibly being done). Read the rest of this entry »

I just posted a thread on my website in the Adoption forum, asking some questions about getting to the point of deciding to adopt. Just as I posted, it hit me. Four years ago today, I got my positive pregnancy test with Calista. Four years ago today, I was so thrilled beyond belief that I woke Skip up at 6:30 in the morning to tell him. I had bloodwork, confirmed I was pg and we told family. It was the start of our family of three and one of the most incredible days of my life. Read the rest of this entry »

I have worked just about non-stop from 8 am to now (11:40 pm) today and I am about to keel over. I’ve got a lot of projects going on right now, many with dealines this week, and it’s killing me! Augh! But I won’t complain too much, as the extra work is good when it means more income.
In my previous post, I mentioned a new fundraising idea which turns out isn’t feasible (a raffle). Drat. However, I can do a Skill Contest, and so that’s what I’m going to do. Read the rest of this entry »

Wish I could say it was my own idea, but it’s not. :) You see, I know of another couple who is also fundraising for IVF (there is a link on the right sidebar to “Aiden Our Angel”, that is their site) and I see that they are doing a raffle with a great prize (a trip and other goodies). Now I have no means of raffling off a trip, but I thought if I could find just the right prize(s), perhaps I could have a raffle, too! I was thinking things like an iPod, digital camera…. not sure. The biggest problem is that I’d be scared to buy a prize like that and then not sell enough tickets to cover the cost of the item (man would that ever suck, and be awfully counter-productive to boot!). I’m in a fundraising slump. I have a lot of offers from friends and acquaintances for more party-type things, which I totally appreciate, but I feel like I’ve run that idea’s course and people are tired of it. I can’t keep hitting people up to buy stuff, can I?
My husband keeps talking about donating plasma for a measely $200 a month or something, but I don’t know that he’s made an appointment yet. Read the rest of this entry »
