Can I Scream? Oh Wait, I Just Did

Ok. Settle down, Sommer. Recap… held my pee as long as I possibly could. Mother Nature ruined it all and I had to GO, so I saved it in a cup. Nasty, I know. Unless you’ve ever really wanted to be pregnant, you just wouldn’t get it. Anyhow…

So I run off to the store to stock up on pee sticks. 2 pack of Clear Blue Easy Digitals. Check. 2 pack of Fact Plus. Check. Three pack of Accu Clear. Check. A digital, a pink dye test and a blue dye test — bases are covered.

The cashier makes some comments about “Boy, you REALLY want to be sure, don’t you?” Shut up and give me my damned pee sticks already! I tried to silence him by retorting, “After $25,000 in fertility treatments, yeah, I want to be sure.”

Then he tells me he saw a show that said if you do insemination you have a really good chance of quads. All I was thinking is WHY is he still talking to me? He kept going on about having to go to California for cyropreservation (huh?) and all this, and asked me if I went to California. No, I told him there’s a local clinic. Whatever.

Next he asks me the name of the clinic and writes it down. Good lord, buddy, I have a cup of pee at home waiting for me and you’re taking notes on fertility clinics???

Anyhow, I get home and get everything ready. Good lighting, tests, cup of pee, camera… we’re good to go. I set the timer and dip the Accu Clear. It was slow as all heck, but it was positive by about 5 minutes. I was going to be strong and save the other tests, but after about 10 seconds of that idea, I opened the Fact Plus.

The Accu Clear was done and a very light positive, but enough of a positive that I knew it was. 1:30 into the Fact Plus, it was clearly positive. Oh.My.Gawd.

Calm down, I was thinking, calm DOWN! I called Skip. I was rambling and probably yelling, don’t even recall what I said but I told him. He was as excited as a man can get at the thought of his wife at home with a camera and a cup of pee. He’s cautiously optimistic.

The Fact Plus was so positive by ten minutes that I said “screw reason!” and did the digital. It blinks as it waits to give you the results.

Blink.

Blink.

Blink.

After a while, I thought I should have counted how many blinks to a positive (you know, like “How many licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop”?) but then it did it…

PREGNANT.

I screamed and jumped around. Really, I did. “Oh my God! Oh my God!” Then I lined up all the tests really nicely for a group photo. And here you have it. Squishy and/or Ace’s presence being announced to the world…

Can you freaking believe it? CAN YOU? I don’t know if I can…

Edited to add: I called the RE to see if the Beta could be moved up a little (they’ve got me waiting until 17 dpo for pete’s sake!) and the nurse said to me, “It’s too early for an accurate positive. You need to wait until Monday. Stop taking tests.”

Well, dammit, I have spent enough time with fertility meds, trigger shots and reading up on this crap to know it’s NOT too early SO THERE! The only thing I can figure is she’s trying to spare me in case the pregnancy doesn’t “stick” so to speak, but other than that, I think she’s full of poop. Just for that, I’m not letting them do my 7 week u/s, I’ll go to my OB thank-you-very-much. Hmpf.
