Finally… Some Answers
This morning, the CNMW’s office called me at 8:20 am — ten minutes before they opened. The receptionist said they didn’t have any openings, but if I came in at 9:30 am, they’d fit me in. I called Skip and we met at the office at 9:30 am.
We got in at about 10 am and told her what had been going on, and she was so sweet and excited to have us back. She didn’t waste time and got the ultrasound started. There were no problems found. She saw a dark spot that might have been the source of the problem, but the baby was fine. Measuring right on target, in its nice, round gestational sac and it had a nice yolk sac. It was just a teeny bit too small to catch the heartbeat, so we will go back next week for that.
Then she moved over to the other baby and it was measuring the same size and also had a nice little yolk sac.
That’s right, folks… twins! Wow. Of course, we’ve known all along it was a definite possibility and I’ve assumed from the start it was two until proven otherwise but wow… it’s really two!
We’ll go back on Thursday, May 3rd to catch a peek of their little heartbeats. Poor Calista is going to be mad she missed the ultrasound, but we didn’t want to take her today since we weren’t sure what the news would be. Here they are, all snuggled together over on the right.

What fantastic news! All the heartache and troubles of going through IVF is all worth it in the end for you! You had to do 2 IVF procedures but you are having 2 babies! Money well spent!

OMG, I’m just totally thrilled. I got so busy at work today and didn’t have time to check in, so I just got goosebumps seeing that ultrasound and hearing your report. Those little devils are already up to no good, I think – scaring their momma like that!! :)

Sommer, Congrat’s from one mother of twins to another. They are a blast. Mine are 2 yrs old already. I’m predicting boy/girl. Thats what I had so I may be a bit bias. Good luck and keep us updated as I know you will. Calista will have fun with them when they get a bit older. I have an older son (5 1/2 yrs difference between then). Best wishes.
