Where’s My Pregnant Glow?

April27

Pregnant Glow.  That is NOT what I have going on right now.  Hopefully, I will encounter it soon, for everyone’s sake, but right now, it’s more like the Mask of Death.

I was terribly sick when pregnant with Calista and hoped I’d get passed over by the sickness fairy this time, but she has visited me twofold.  I am entirely grateful to be so ill, but I may need to post a reminder of that on the underside of my toilet lid soon.  In all seriousness, I’ll take it!  It means I am pregnant and the babies are growing.  I love it.

I’ve been reading this book called “When You’re Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quadruplets” and it’s about nutrition in multiple pregnancy.  Man, that lady expects me to eat a LOT!  It’s actually a really good book, and though I don’t think I could possibly eat as much food as she recommends in one day, I think it will be a great guide.  Besides, any book that recommends milkshakes and premium ice cream to help weight gain is OK by me.

Other than that, it’s just been hunger, fatigue and sickness.  No more spotting since Wednesday, so that is a wonderful relief.  My belly is definitely growing quickly this time around — I can already feel my uterus just above my pubic bone but was still surprised to see the difference from just two weeks ago.  I created a Belly Pictures page so they are all in one place, but here is this week.  Please excuse my haggard look, it’s been a rough day:

Oh, I keep forgetting to post this one…  When Calista got home from school on Wednesday, I called her into my office (gee, I sound like the Principal, don’t I?) and started to tell her about the ultrasound.  I was so worried she’d be mad she missed it, so I told her Mommy was sick and we had to see the doctor.  I told her the doctor had to take a picture to see that everything was OK, and I showed her the ultrasound.  I pointed to one of the babies and said, “This is a baby, it’s very small right now.  How many do you see?”

She counted the two sacs in the image and then ripped the ultrasound out of my hand, ran to the office door and waved the ultrasound while practically screaming, “Daddy!  There’s TWO babies!  I knew it!  You said there was only one, but I knew there were two!”

I think she’s pleased.  :)

I’m sorry about the morning sickness, but that story about Calista is just SO cute. That HAS to go into the baby book for sure. Kids just know these kinda things. You should ask her what she thinks the babies will be, just to see if she’s right.

Is there a possiblity of one of the sacs producing identical twins? I know without seeing much, you wont know for sure, just didn’t know if we were going to get another surpise or not!

    Congrats again!

Hearing about Callista’s happiness brings tears to my eyes. I hope to G-d that your babies thrive and you have a healthy and happy 9 months. The m/s is a good sign. I hear that is much worse with multiples. Your belly shot is definitely growing. Yay!

    Sommer,

Congratulations! Sorry about all the sickness, but at least it will all be worth it in the end!

Congrats Sommer! I’ve been following your story for months and am so glad to hear you have 2 healthy babies growing. I have 4 year old twin DD and am 35 weeks preg with a singleton. Just so you know, I had hyperemesis with the twins and with the singleton and the sickness stopped at 15 weeks with the twins but at 20 with this one?!?! Also, I am nauseous now in the 3rd tri, so I actually think the twin pregnancy was a little easier at this point. (But then again I didn’t have any kids to take care of either ;) Goodluck and remember to ask for Zofran if needed, it saved me this time!

Aw what a sweet story with Calista! Sorry about the morning sickness! I had that with my girls so I know how you feel. Hopefully if it gets bad enough you can get some medication.
