This is so dumb, but I was posting a message on Connected Moms for some morning sickness help, and when I posted, I saw my signature It has some blinkies that say “Due in December” and “Expecting Twins” and a picture of Calista next to the ultrasound photo, as well as my pregnancy ticker. And you know, I looked at it and kind of went, “Oh, man, I’m pregnant!”

As if I didn’t know or something… I’ve been tired beyond belief and so sick I cried Saturday morning because I just wanted to be able to eat one thing without feeling like I was going to barf. I’ve got a bajillion pee stick photos, two Beta blood results and two ultrasound images, but sometimes, it still seems so surreal.
My tummy isn’t as bloated as it was, so I’m not really showing at all, but I’ve got issues with anything around my mid section, so it’s been hard find clothes that I like. My regular clothes and underpants go right across where my uterus is and irritate me, so I’ve been resorting to my overalls most days. I know most women dread getting into maternity clothes, but I can’t wait! We’ll see how I feel in 30+ weeks when I’ve outgrown my maternity clothes, though.
Speaking of maternity clothes, I’ve been looking for a cute twin maternity shirt, but they are so darned expensive! I found one that was a plain t-shirt with a picture of two peas in a pod and it said, “My pod has two peas”. It was one size (which as small as I am, one size just doesn’t work) and $38!
I found another plain t-shirt that just says “Twins!” on it… for $56! Are you kidding me? I guess because they are so hard to come by, people figure they can rake you over the coals for them. The only affordable ones I have found are hideous. I’ll probably end up getting a plain $8 Old Navy Maternity top and make my own iron-on or something for it.
Oh boy, dinner is now planning its revenge so I bet go lie down for a while. At list my sickness is lined with complete happiness, or else I think it would be unbearable. :)

Sommer,
I sure hope you can find some relief from the sickness.
Perhaps you should go into business designing and selling tshirts for twin moms.
I’m pleased you are sick ;) It’s for such a good reason!
you can check out cafepress.com You might be able to find something twinish in there or you could create your own design and have it printed on tshirt for a reasonable cost. :) give it 3 or 4 more weeks and you’ll have the start of a nice little ( or not so little to come ) belly! :)
Hi Sommer, you haven’t heard from me before but I’ve been following your journey for some time now. Congratulations on the twins….I am so excited for you!
I am sorry that you are so sick…I had it very bad with both of my pregnancies and it just plain stinks! I used to feel so guilty because I tried for 4 years to get pregnant with my daughter and then when I did and had the horrible sickness…there were days when I didn’t think I could bear it any more. I just want you to know that it’s okay to hate being sick….you prayed for babies, not being so sick you can’t eat anything! I don’t know if it will help you…but the only thing that helped me(and I tried it ALL!) was what my midwife told me when I was pregnant with my second child. She told me to take a unisom sleeping tablet and 50 or 75 mg of vitamin b-6 right before bed every night. It worked really well on me and even though I was still occassionally nausous..I didn’t vomit all the time and actually stated to gain weight. I would definetly check with your doctor before taking this combo just to double check the saftey and the dosages…but I took it until I was about 20 weeks and my son is a happy two year old with no health concerns. I wouldn’t recommend it if it hadn’t been the ONLY thing that helped me.
Best wishes!
Heather
Check dueduds.com and cafepress.com. Both of those sites have twin shirts/items for better prices.
I hope the morning sickness eases up a little. My naturopath told me to eat protein before bed every night. I ate a spoonful of peanut butter at bedtime and that honestly helped with my morning sickness more than anything.
For those sudden flashes of nausea, sucking on a lemon drop seemed to help.
Cafepress has some for less than $38:

And here’s one on ebay:

I hope the morning sickness passes soon. YOu could always design your own shirt at CafePress.com and order yourself one. :)
They have maternity t-shirts with “two peas in a pod” on them on ebay. Thought you might want to check it out. They’re not nearly as expensive as the ones you’ve been looking at. :) Hope the sickness phase passes quickly!
Lemon drop candies, peppermints, hot water w/ fresh lemon squeezed in it. Just some ideas

I had no idea you were even pregnant, Sommer! I came across something when I was reading Jess’s blog. Congratulations! And two to boot! Sweet!

I had that My Pod has Two Peas shirt! I got my MIL to buy it for me! I loved it and am going to put it in the twins scrapbook. You should splurge on just one cute twins shirt. It was nice and stretchy and fit for almost the whole time.
