Jell-O in my Tummy and Zofran in my Veins
We had another OB appointment yesterday. Babies look well and we’ve added Zofran to my daily IV. 8 mg of it, which is double what I’m able to take per day in pills thanks to crappy insurance. Now I get 8 mg via IV and can take another 4 mg via pill. I did my IV already today (as soon as the Zofran arrived) and felt well enough to eat some chips and Jell-O afterwards. Yippee!
Someone on a message board also told me the injectable Zofran is covered differently than pill form so I will be asking on Monday about getting more that I can inject (via my PICC line) as needed and not just get it with my once-a-day IV and lousy half of a pill.
Skip’s mom will be coming next week to stay with us as long as needed. The OB said we need help now until sometime after the babies are born. I’m so glad, as yesterday was Calista’s day home with me and it’s no fun for her to play by herself and get her own snacks while mom lays half dead on the couch/bed/recliner. We will cut back her daycare time a bit to save some money but she will still go part-time and then Skip’s mom can help with her when she’s home. That will be a huge help.
Thanks to some of the replies to my blog, my family and I have found some great, supportive websites with HG information and Ashli from beyondmorningsickness.com has been kind enough to send me a free book. It’s so helpful to know I’m not just a wimp with “morning sickness” — that this is a real problem — and I’m so glad my family understands that as well. I just hope I am lucky enough that it will not last my entire pregnancy.
We have another appointment Monday and a “big” ultrasound with measurements, etc (usually, it’s just a quick check that both babies are ok). Hopefully we will get some more pictures. And with all of these ultrasounds, we should hopefully know the sexes in the net month or so! It will be nice to know their genders so we can work on names. We gave up for now — it’s too hard coming up with two sets of names for each gender. :)
