The ramblings of a mom of three.

Ups and Downs

July14

I’m still having my up days and my down days, and today has definately been a down day, unfortunately.  I went for a much needed hair cut this morning and almost passed out in the chair.  The poor hairdresser was frantically getting me water and looking for a paper bag, while asking for my husband’s phone number.  Everything went black for a few seconds, my hearing went and I got really hot.  It happened a few times, but I never actually passed out.  I feel so bad, I must have really scared the hairdresser!!

She gave me some water and chocolate and I did perk up, but I’ve just felt so tired all day.  I thought that the second trimester was supposed to be where you felt all good and alive?  Ha!  We did our grocery shopping after lunch and then I took a 3 hour nap.  I’m only up now because I feel guilty sleeping the day away while Skip takes care of Calista.

I had been having a lot of lower abdominal pain, and have recently discovered it happens when a baby gets in a weird position.  Once they move off of whatever they get on to, it goes away.  I’m glad for that, as I thought I was just going to have constant pain down there.

I get a lot of back pain from carrying this boulder belly around, but the Prenatal Cradle I got helps with that.  The crappy thing is that I can’t wear it with a tank top and it’s HOT here, so I only wear it on days when I know I will have to walk a lot.

Our cribs arrived on Monday and we are going to assemble them this weekend (to make sure they are ok in case they need returned or exchanged).  I think I mentioned before that we got our infant carriers/car seats and a double Snap-N-Go stroller from a local twin mom and I also ordered a change table.  I got fabric for the bedding and sent it to my mom who will make the crib sets, and we got Calista another Sunshine Kids Radian 65 car seat so we now have two (one for the car and one for the van) and when the babies outgrow the infant carriers, they can have the Radians and then Calista can move to a booster seat.

We’re starting to accumulate stuff and I am starting to feel like we are getting ready, so that’s good!  I also feel them move a lot (but then freak out the days I don’t feel much) and it’s really starting to sink in that we are going to have two babies in a few months.  Wow.

I have another OB appointment on Tuesday, and after that, it will be the “big” ultrasound where they check everything — measure the arms, legs, head, body, check the heart, etc.  That is always a fun one, getting to see the baby (or in this case, babies) for so long.  :)

Sounds like your blood sugar might be pretty low. I would definitely mention this to the doc this week, esp if it happens again. I hope you are feeling better!

I’ve started having some of those dizzy spells too, Sommer…very scary indeed. I’m with you in thinking that the 2nd trimester was going to get easier…not true yet! But I wouldn’t trade it for anything :) I think you’re doing amazingly well considering all you’ve had to deal with!

    Sommer,

Wow, things seem to be coming together for you guys. That’s so wonderful.

Your dizzy spells do sound like low blood sugar. I had the same thing happen with my pregnancies. Sometimes while I was driving and it would really freak me out. Definitely mention it to your doctor. I think it’s a common thing, though.

I can’t wait to hear all about the big u/s!

Glad to hear you were ok and that you got a little bit of chocolate :) Like some other posters, I would mention it to your dr. just so they are aware. Congratulations on getting your “gear” ready. Hope you’ll post some pictures of it soon, especially the crib sets your Mom makes—that is really sweet.

I don’t see a newer post from you so really hope you’re feeling ok. It must be scary to be out and feeling like that.

I say you rest & sleep whenever you feel the need to. Take it easy, it sounds like it’s just what you NEED.

How exciting to have the gear arriving.
