22 weeks 1 day — As the Belly Grows
No wonder I am in pain these days. Goodness, the belly is large! I am happy to say, however, that so far (fingers crossed) I really am “all belly”. I just look like me with a big old belly. See what I mean?

Now let me take a moment to make a public service announcement about the pants I have on in these pictures. I have outgrown most of my maternity pants that I wore all nine months with Calista, and today, I was having a serious pants problem. I had on my Old Navy maternity jeans, which I love, except apparently, that panel just ain’t big enough these days. Even though I had them let all the way out, they were hurting me and digging in to my belly. I tried pulling the panel below my belly, but then they were falling off. Not good.
Well, we are in Canada this weekend, and I had heard Lululemon had awesome pants. Now I normally avoid Lululemon at all costs because (1) I hate yoga and (2) I have never in my life spent $80 on a pair of pants, let alone yoga pants. But today, I was desperate.
I got to Lululemon and they don’t have maternity, so I was confused about this recommendation I had remembered about their pants. But I tried some anyhow.
All I can say is Oh… my… gawd. Heaven. I had to buy them two sizes bigger than my usual, but these pants ROCK. Seriously.
They are 95% organic cotton and 5% lycra for maximum softness and just enough butt hugging. But the best part? They have this big waist band thing that you can either pull up (if I wasn’t pregnant, these things would come up to my boobs, easily) or fold down. I tried them both ways… folded down, they don’t dig into me and my pants don’t fall down, and pulled up, they are soft but don’t cut into me, and I have room to grow in them.
I wanted to walk out the door in these pants, but unfortunately, they run long, and if you didn’t know, I run short. But they offer free hemming! Yay! So I bought I long pair and left them to be hemmed, and they will mail them to me when they are done, and then I got the shorter ones I have on in the picture because I could walk out of the store in them.

And since they are not maternity pants, I should be able to wear them for a long time to come.

I think that the LuLULEMON in kits has maternity- at least that is what i heard ( i think they also have wee girls clothes too) i dont thik all the stores carry it ( one of those trial things)

You look great! I second those yoga pants, I had two pair that I wore ALL through my last pregnancy(which btw I grew out of my stuff I wore all 9m w/Sophie too, and NO I did not have twins the second time!LOL)

Sommer…I love your belly…and thats wonderful thats what you are…all belly. I was the exact same way when I was pg with my twins. And I wish I knew about those pants when I was pg…lucky you to come across them. No plans on getting pg again…I think 3 kids is enough for me in my house…(LOL).

Too funny – I was just reading your blog when Luke walked up to the computer and said, “She has a big belly! Mommy, why can’t her shirt stay down?” I informed him that you were pg with 2 babies. His next response was, “Mommy, those must be big babies!” LOL Oh Sommer! You look so cute!
Cool pants! I live in a small town in the midwest but I just looked up store locators for Lululemon and they have TWO in Chicago with TWO more suburb locations coming! I live only 50 minutes from downtown Chicago. I’m not having twins, but at the end of my pregnancies, most people tell me I look like it! Thank you so much for the recommendation! And you look super cute!
