It’s been a rough night/day — Calista awoke at 4 am vomiting and has spent the day suffering from diarrhea, sore throat and upset tummy. Poor girl. The boys have been home a little over a week now. So far, it’s gone pretty well! It’s not been near as hard as I had expected (based on hearing from other twin moms). My biggest fear since bringing the boys home is them not gaining weight — especially Nate, since the doctor was hesitant to release him. We had a home visit today to check up on the boys, however, and Ace is now 5 pounds 3 ounces and Nate is 6 pounds 3 ounces! They are doing great and I’m so relieved — especially with Nate. Camping at the hospital went well. I camped with both babies, and while I slept perhaps a total of 4 hours (and not consecutively!) it was really good. It wasn’t as terrifying as I thought it was, though at one point, I almost resuscitated Nate because CPR training was fresh in my mind and in my overtired stupor, I thought he had suffocated. No worries, though, as he was totally fine and I’m just a spaz. The nurse laughed and said a baby who doesn’t need resuscitated will certainly let you know when you try to “save” them. We got word today that Ace is being evicted from the Special Care Nursery. Basically, he’s fine now, and insurance doesn’t care to pay for a baby who doesn’t need care. Of course, this is great news, because it means he’s coming home tomorrow, but it’s sad because Nate isn’t. Read the rest of this entry »

If I could write the word SUCK bigger in the title of this post, I would.
I was at the hospital last night for the boys’ 11 pm and 12 am feeds. Nate was sleepy, but he took 30 cc by breast and the rest by bottle. While I was feeding Ace, Nate started to desat a little bit, which means his blood oxygen level was dropping below 90. Read the rest of this entry »
