Where Does the Time Go?
I have tried to write an entry for over a week and never seem to have time to devote to more than a few sentences. I’m trying to write at least once a week, but obviously, I’m not doing a very good job, am I? HA!
Calista has started back to dance and is loving it. They will be doing a recital on February 2nd and her class is doing a “snowflake dance”. I can’t wait to see it — especially because we can’t watch them during class because the room is too small for parents. The recital should be super cute. There’s just 5 of them in her class, and they will be wearing blue outfits with little blue headbands. And the teacher mentioned “lots of sparkles” so Calista will be thrilled.

The boys are doing well, but fussy. Especially Ace. We are STILL treating them both for thrush — they just keep passing it back and forth. Ace is on Prevacid for his reflux and I’ve cut out all dairy from my diet in an effort to help him. Plus we’ve got the Amby beds and Miracle Blankets. Overall, he’s doing a little better, but he still screams a lot! I have found if I let him breastfeed for a really long time (like an hour), he’ll be content longer, so I’ve been doing that as well.

Tummy Time Sucks! (Ace)
They are both having longer alert periods and are just as cute as can be! They coo a lot, which I adore, and Ace has been smiling here and there.
We spend a lot of time bouncing them — especially Ace — in the bouncy seat or Amby bed. For whatever reason, that really settles him. But heaven forbid you STOP bouncing him!
My mom and niece are coming on Thursday and it will be nice to have a little help for a few days. They’ve rented a condo to stay in, but I’m sending Skip to sleep there Thursday night while Mom and Patience stay at our house. That way, the man will be well rested and I can hold it against him when he complains of lack of sleep… “Well YOU have at least had one full night’s sleep since the boys were born!” Ha ha! Ok, so I’m kidding about that part, but it will be good for him to get a full night of sleep. I’d do it if I could!
I was supposed to start back to work on the 19th, but I’ve moved it to February 1st. I’m terrified. I have no idea how I will care for the boys AND work. I know what will happen — I will care for the boys all day, Skip will come home and we will eat dinner, then I will have to work all evening. Then I will be resentful because he gets time to relax and watch TV, while I will have to work every waking minute. Moms really get the shaft sometimes!!
However, the time that they are babies is so short lived, so I plan to cherish every (non-screaming) moment of it. Soon enough, they will be sitting, crawling, walking… Ah, I’m getting all misty eyed just thinking about it.

Mr. Blue Eyes (Nate)

Hi, i just wanted to say hello and CONGRATULATIONS on your beautiful children! My partner and i are trying to raise money for IVF after a 3 year struggle with infertility (we got hit twice with TWO inferts in the same household–what are the chances?), and after reading “your story” i was hoping you might share some of your fundraising knowledge with us.
Any info or suggestions you could provide us would be so appreciated!
I love the pics! I think it’s great that you’re finding any time to write at all!!
They’re growing so big! Thanks for the update:)
I heard you were having some trouble and were thinking about soy being a problem too. When we had the dairy sensitivity issue, I was told right off the bat by my LLL leader that babies with one sensitivity often had the other as well – so I completely cut out both. I got rather used to rice milk. ;) Good luck with it!
Your boys are so beautiful!! Can’t wait to see pics from the recital with all the sparkles!!
Thanks for the updates! I look forward to each one! (esp the pictures!)
Truly beautiful babies!
Love that pic of Calista! She is getting so big!
The boys are adorable as usual, but I can’t hear them! Ha! I hope the reflux/alignment issues clear soon so you can just enjoy being a mom again.
Good luck with going back to work. I completely understand the resentment thing. A mother’s work is never, ever done…
Two thoughts:
1. The prolonged nursing helps them feel better because the extended sucking helps keep the reflux from happening. It also gets more hind milk, which helps with the reflux. I know it’s a pain in the butt, but do it when you have the time- win-win situation!
2. Does your bouncy seat have an automatic bounce option? My son was addicted to his bouncy, but it had a battery and bounced by itself- no mommy foot required. May be worth a purchase…
All the kids are just blossoming! You have a beautiful family.
