I Forgot to Mention…

December27

I forgot to mention that we are in Canada for the holiday, so I won’t be updating much until I get back.

We had a WONDERFUL Christmas!  The kids have been loving the new toys and fun with the family, and Skip and I got a DSLR camera.  I need to update our family website tomorrow….  it’s going to take me a while because there are so many GREAT pictures!!  I also got a Flip video recorder so I can make better videos for posting.  I have a lot to upload and show off!

And, in case you didn’t notice the comments on my last post, my mom bought a ticket to come to our house in January.  She was just tormenting me when she was saying she wasn’t coming.  She was going to wait until Christmas to tell me, but then she read my blog post so she fessed up in the comments.  :)

Happy Holidays!!

Blue Christmas Part II (AKA I Give UP!!!)

December23

I’ve tried everything I can to find a way to either get to Pittsburgh for Christmas or get my mom out here and it seems there’s a “problem” with everything I’ve come up with. Sometimes, logic and reason suck.

This is missed time with my family that I can’t get back and I so wanted to share it. I know we can do a visit in a couple of months, but the kids will all be so changed by then. It’s now that I wanted to share. I hate distance, finances, jobs, school and everything else that gets in the way.

Blue Christmas

December23

The past few days have been busy, and I’ve also been having a lot of headaches and neck pain (thanks, Nissan Xterra Lady).  Almost all of the gifts are wrapped — and the rest will be done tonight after Skip brings home some more wrapping paper.  He’s also picking up the last of the gifts today (those Easy Bake Ovens are hard to find!). Snow Day

December17

Calista had the day off today not because it was too snowy to go to school, but because there was snow in the forecast.  Can you believe that?  It did end up snowing a lot, but I’m from the east coast and we used to trudge to the bus stop in snow up to our knees, so this whole “school is cancelled because it *might* snow” thing is a little weird to me.  But Calista enjoyed it!

Skip headed home from work early today as well, because when there is snow in this town, everything comes to a screeching halt.  I guess we just don’t get enough snow to actually have the proper trucks and equipment to deal with it, so everyone freaks out when the white stuff falls. Progress is Good

December16

Today I had a meeting with the lawyer.  I arrived just after 10 am, only to find out my appointment was at 1 pm!  Duh.  I had some time to kill, so I mailed all of our Christmas card as well as some items for work, visited a friend whose twin boys are in the NICU (please keep them in your thoughts), had lunch with Skip and then headed BACK to the lawyer.

The lawyer is really great.  It’s a woman, and she was very easy to talk to, very thorough and explained everything to me really well.  She said the first thing she would be doing is sending a letter of representation to the opposing insurance and demand the immediate reimbursement of my out-of-pocket expenses for car rental and my deductible.  Then she said for me to track my mileage and stuff and she will contact me in about 3 months as we won’t start going for medical costs and “pain and suffering” until I am completely healed.  It is such a relief to know I don’t have to deal with the stupid dink from the opposing insurance any more! Let It Snow!

December15

We’ve got our first snow of the season happening right now.  Well, that’s not exactly true.  It happened last night, and now it’s just on the ground.  And man oh man is it ever COLD out!  It gets so windy it’s insane.

I was so tired today.  I dozed on and off in the living room today until noon (gotta love Skip who lets me get away with that from time to time) and just felt like I could have slept all day.  The Mothers of Multiples club was having a kids’ Christmas party today, and Calista was so excited for it, so I took her to do that.  Even though it was a twin club party, I didn’t take the boys as Nate had been up all night (probably why I was so tired — I don’t know what his deal was last night!) and Ace was still napping as we were about to leave.  Anyhow, she had a good time (as did I) and she even got a gift from Santa — a pink dragon Webkinz.  Unfortunately, she took the tag off and left/lost it at the party, so now we can’t go online with it.  Seems I have to buy a new one to get a new code.  What a pain!
