Skip and I met up at the REs office at 12:30 PM today and headed in. We waited a few minutes in the waiting area and then Dr. B came to talk to us. He said we had two “really, really good” embryos that we’d be transferring in just a few moments. I immediately asked what stages they were, because last time, though they were Grade 1 (the best grade), they weren’t quite as far along development wise as we’d have hoped. We’ve got 4 hours until the transfer and I am trying to tie up a few loose ends with work and get settled down and RELAX but it’s not happening! My mom, who came to help with Calista while I am on bed rest is now sleeping on the couch because she’s sick, Calista is bugging me because she wants me attention, and I am trying to do too much at once. That’s the way this emotional roller coaster goes. I talked to Dr. B’s office today, and we’re still going to day five with the babies. We now have four embryos (we had a late starter, apparently) and of course we won’t put back all four, so day five it will be so we can pick the best of the bunch. Late yesterday, I started having really bad heart burn. By bed time, it was nausea and I tried to sleep it off, but my legs were aching, and every time I moved to try to get comfortable, I felt like I was going to hurl. I played this game until 3 AM when I actually did hurl and went back to bed. But I still couldn’t get comfortable! Read the rest of this entry »

Ok, I didn’t have a lot of time or desire to post earlier. You see, we got the fertilization report call just as we were pulling out of the driveway for Calista’s skating lessons and I posted when we came home for lunch for a few minutes and were heading back out to go grocery shopping. I didn’t really want to get into it, as I had been crying a lot and didn’t want to start again. So here is the uncut version. Read the rest of this entry »

Well, it’s not so good. I guess we’re lucky we had all those eggs because out of ten mature eggs, we only have three embryos. They said they did ICSI on all ten, and only five fertilized (normal is 75 – 80% fertilization). Out of those five, only three fertilized normally, so there you have it — three. Now we wait. They said expect to come in Wednesday for a five-day transfer, and we won’t hear from them unless we lose all three. I’m just praying we don’t get that call that there’s nothing to transfer.
