Full Circle

I am working on a setting up an appointment with audiologist #2 (who will forevermore be referred to as “my audiologist”) to pick out hearing aids.  Deja vu, anyone?

I went to the ENT today.  First, let me say I loved Dr. O.  He is awesome.  Very knowledgeable and personable.  Just a great doctor, so that was good.

I started out by telling him I had two conflicting audiograms and he jumped right in and said we’d re-test, so re-test we did. Continue reading »

Craptastic

Today was my audiology appointment with the new audiologist.  When we started out, I asked if she had my audiograph from the first appointment, and she looked at me funny.  I told her my DVR counselor sent it to her a week ago, and she went to her desk and found it, unopened, in an envelope on her desk.  Awesome.

As she sat and looked at it, she kept saying it was “odd”.  I asked her what she meant, and she said that for someone my age, it was not a typical sensorineural hearing loss presentation.  It seems that a “normal” audiograph for sensorineural hearing loss will show normal hearing range in the low tones, and then gradually decrease as the tones get higher, making a downward slope on the graph as the loss progresses.  Mine is the exact opposite, with the loss at its worst in the lowest tones, and gradually getting better and reaching the normal range in the high tones. Anyhow, I had my DVR appointment this morning.  It was much better than I anticipated.  I actually feel hopeful again! Continue reading »

But now I’ve got stuff going on and instead of bombard my Facebook friends with my status drivel or bore my mommy friends with incessant “me” posting, I figure it’s time to blow the dust off of this baby… Continue reading »
