A New Challenge

It’s been a while since I’ve posted.   Lots happens in life, but nothing major that I feel the need to write about.  Besides, I know most who have read here have caught up with me on Facebook and get the daily dose of my life that way.

But now I’ve got stuff going on and instead of bombard my Facebook friends with my status drivel or bore my mommy friends with incessant “me” posting, I figure it’s time to blow the dust off of this baby…

I finally made (and kept) an appointment to get my hearing checked out.  I’ve made appointments before but canceled them.  It’s gotten to the point, though, where I’m getting so frustrating not hearing and mis-hearing things that I went.  And guess what?  I have mild to moderate hearing loss.

It seems I’d benefit from the use of hearing aids.  The problem is that hearing aids are expensive.  As in $1,500 to $3,000…  EACH.  Ouch.  And better yet?  Most insurances (including both of mine) don’t cover it.  What the heck?

After digesting this news (many tears, a little denial and a touch of anger) I’ve thrown myself head first into finding the resources to get hearing aids.  My goal is to get them for Christmas.  I’m pretty sure it’s unrealistic, but I need a goal and that’s what I picked.

There’s so much more to be said, but this is a start.  Wish me luck!

  1. Sorry about your hearing loss. My mom has struggled with moderate hearing loss her entire life…and refuses to get aids. I think she feels like people will judge her by wearing them, but I keep telling her they make aids now that are barely visible! Ugh.

Glad to hear you’re going to make it a goal to have your aids by Christmas…best of luck!!!
